A rare find presented in 2012 to Buller District Library by Westport Rotary Club gives impression of early library books held by the first Westport Free Library.

It shows inventory number 431a, a copy of Prince Kropotkin's "Memoirs of a Revolutionist", Vol. II. published by Smith, Elder & Co in London 1899.

The book is covered in leather and has a library stamp on the front cover. The frontispiz inside shows a copy of the library useage and lending rules.

Provenience of the book is unknown, but it can be assumed that the book originally  belonged to the collection of the Carnegie Library in Westport established in 1904 as Westport Free Public Library.
