Grey River Gold Dredge - Photo taken at Ngahere in January 1989 - Photo taken from the upper level of the front boom, showing the ground (cleared) where the dredge will dig. The "triangular" structure on the right of the picture, is the forward anchor point for the dredge. A cable is attached from the dredge to the anchor point. The dredge moves forward by winching the cable in, thereby pulling the dredge forward. There are two other anchor points, on either side of the dredge, enabling the dregde to pull itself left and right across the lagoon.
